I just listened to President Obama's press conference (Wed, June 29, 2011) and was not the least bit surprised by his ability to stick to his ideological stances on the economy but yet, go against his 'principles' regarding war and social issues. How Sheila Jackson Lee can follow this president like a lapdog rubber stamping almost everything the man wants to do is appalling and goes against the interest of the people of the 18^th congressional district of Texas.

What is Obama's loss of understanding when it comes to job creation? Do we need to reduce taxation on the lower and middle class? Yes, that doesn't mean we have to increase taxes on the others who can build employment opportunities for Americans here at home. Obama needs to understand that one of the reasons larger corporations are moving to other nations for operations is due to the fact that they are getting taxed more than it costs to move. This is the same reason companies like Toyota and Honda open plants in non-unions states. Don't get me wrong, individuals have the right to unionize to defend themselves against poor employment practices but unions have zero business in government decision making. They have become no worse than the 'evil' corporation they were created to defend against. Let's make permanent, the payroll tax holiday. It needs to be a retirement of such a policy and not a holiday.

When it comes to war, Obama slid into office riding the anti-war tides. Since being in office, he has reduced much of what we had in Iraq by moving those troops to Afghanistan. Since then, we have achieved our stated goal of killing or capturing Osama Bin Laden. Instead of pulling our troops out, he has agreed to take out the surge troops but will leave 75,000 troops for an “indefinite amount of time” but no earlier than 2014. Obama, since taking office, has also stated a desire to keep permanent military bases in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Where is Sheila Jackson Lee on these issues? Again, she tends to follow this president to the ends of the Earth.

Obama made no bones about it, he will not take a direct position on the GLBT community or gay marriage. The GLBT community is a huge part of the 18^th congressional district in Texas. Where has Sheila Jackson Lee been on these issues? She says she supports the GLBT community but in what way? What has she done? Where is legislation sponsored by her on issues important to this community? The Democratic Party, as a whole, has lacked any luster when taking on these social issues they tend to feed on for their incumbency.

It's time for a real change. Texas Congressional District 18 has misrepresented for long enough. Help me make that change and donate, today.

Today, Mike Taylor sent an email request to the Sheila Jackson Lee campaign for re-election. This request was to be included in any debates following the primary season. The text of the email went as follows.

"To whom it may concern,

Please reply with positive or negative reaction to this request.

I am running against Sheila Jackson Lee in 2012. I know she has not been
big on debates in the past but I would like to request that any scheduled
debate(s) with Representative Jackson Lee be made available to candidate
Mike Taylor after the primary season. I requested as much in 2008 but
received no response.

If Sheila Jackson Lee is doing what her constituents want, she should have
no problem with this request. In fact, it might even help her re-election
bid.

I originally went into this release with the intent of slamming tons of statistics and studies before it hit me, rights shouldn't need stats and studies as rights are personal to everyone and truly needs to simply be understood by elected officials.

The Constitution of the United States was created to protect personal rights for each individual regardless of race, religion and yes, even sexual orientation. I don't recall reading an exception clause anywhere to prevent anyone from being granted equal public rights for any reason.

One thing I have heard from most Democratic supporters and also a surprising large number of self proclaimed conservatives is that equal rights for marriage is not something that should be banned. The GLBT community should not be ridiculed or denied their individual rights to maintain a marriage to show the world their love for one another. To be honest, it's none of the “worlds” business and should only be, as it is for anyone else, between the two parties involved.

Congress and presidents over the last several decades have made steps in the right direction to advance equal rights for a large number of people that have been disenfranchised by poorly designed laws. One group that has been lost in this fight for equality has been people have “different” sexual ideology than what others would see as “normal”. Who is to say what is “normal”?

One thing that people can count on is that Mike Taylor will never see that invisible 'exception clause' for equal rights that have prevented consenting adults from being married and spending their lives together as a legal couple sharing the same benefits as any other couple under the law.

Remove Sheila Jackson Lee

How does Sheila Jackson Lee keep getting re-elected? I understand the lack of desire to vote for a "cookie cutter" Republican Neo-Conservative. Thing is, there are other alternatives.

POINTLESS: Sheila Jackson Lee has not produced a single piece of legislation that has even made it to the floor for a vote. Why, Because the only thing she seems to be interested in is getting legislation to congratulate other leaders for winning elections in other nations and odd-ball legislation to recognize people that have nothing to do with her district or the U.S. Congress!

PATRIOT ACT!: Whether you are for or against the PAT-ACT, you have to be disgusted at SJL's inability to be real with the people. The first time around, she voted for it then complained that it was taking away the rights of the people and that she wasn't allowed proper time to read it before voting for it. When The PAT-ACT came up to be expanded and extended, she not only had the time to read it, she had a chance to propose changes in order to make it less intrusive on American's rights. What did she do? She voted to extend and expand it, after having adequate time to read it. Head spinning, yet?

BAIL-OUTS!: SJL voted for the Bush bail-outs. Those were ill advised bail-outs but she voted for them anyway. Here is a kicker...When the first bail-out bill came up for the Obama administration, she first voted against it, HOWEVER.....she quickly changed her mind when the bill went back to congress and had tons of pork added to it then, once the bail-out bill had enough unrelated crap added to it, she voted for it. I guess the first bill didn't have enough of the tax payers money being wasted for her tastes.

In 2010, please help send this hypocritical member of congress a message. You can't bring yourself to vote for a Republican? Don't! SJL will probably win the election, regardless but, if someone that doesn't even belong to the Republican or Democratic parties were to get an unusually high number of votes, it might just wake up the career politicians that continue talking out of both sides of their mouths.

Round 2

Hello all,

I felt the need to get started a little early for round 2.

2008 was a jump start year for me. I was unknown and being a presidential election year I knew it would be difficult for a third party candidate. Now, people have seen my name. I am better known. 2010 will not have those draw backs.

I have already begun to build my campaign for 2010. New Web site that will be updated as time goes by. More time to get my name to more people. More time to build a bigger war chest for advertisement.

Our constitution needs to be protected. I will do everything in my power to protect it but I need your help. Please check out the new Web site and join the email list. I promise not to overwhelm you with emails, I know many campaigns tend to get tenacious with email lists. I'll only post with important information and maybe the occasional reminder about the campaign.

Look for me on the ballot for U.S Representative Texas Congressional District 18 in 2010. Thank you all for your continuing support and together, we can make a better tomorrow.

The day After, 2008

I would first like to start by thanking everyone that supported me and helped to get my name into public view. There were many factors in this years election. Unfortunately, those factors worked against me.

On a positive note, I have learned a lot, this year. I learned that, even though a few thousand people wouldn't know me if they saw me on the street were willing to vote for me on the basis of principle. People were willing to look past the social engineering that the big two parties have built upon over the last century.

This gives me hope. I will restructure, I will rebuild and I will come back. As long as hope survives, I will be there to help it along. All of you that gave me the opportunity to be heard, you are my inspiration.

Keep me in mind over the next couple of years. I will be there. Help me support other liberty minded candidates. 2010 is an important year for Texans. Governor, Rick Perry, won re-election with a total of 39% of the popular vote. Yes, that's 39% and not a typo.

Look on the ballot, in 2010, for the name Jeff Daiell. I've met the man and still speak with him at times. He is a good man with will and strength to lead Texas. Perry is not well liked. I wanted to take this opportunity to say that I am very proud of the city of Houston regarding the community response to hurricane Ike. I, like most of Houston and the surrounding areas, have been without power, cable and phone since we were hit.

I also wish to make note of the heartless use of this disaster to garner political gain. It’s disgusting to see TV Ads being paid for with political campaign funds from people like John Cornyn. I saw an Ad were he was talking about relief funds and then openly had the disclaimer that the Ad was paid for by his campaign and approved by him. I’m not running against Cornyn so this is not an attack against my opponent. I am simply pointing out an obvious fact that Cornyn is taking advantage of his position as an incumbent to make allegations that he is the only one that would do something to help the community struck by disaster. It’s sickening to me and I hope I am not alone.

Another person that has taken full advantage of the chance to jump in front of every TV camera in her district is my opponent. One has to ask, if this were not an election year, would Sheila Jackson Lee even bother making a statement? I would say no. When Rita caused damage and loss of homes in 2005 (Not an election year) I never heard a peep from Mrs. Jackson Lee. She never made so much as a radio sound bite for the people affected by the high winds from Hurricane Rita. Nothing!

As a U.S. Representative Mrs. Jackson Lee has ZERO authority to do anything. Once a national disaster has been announced, recovery efforts are performed and authorized by state and local governments in concert with the President of the U.S. and federal disaster recovery agencies. The house and senate members have ZERO say in anything unless as bill is presented to provide funding for recovery costs. Even then, congressional members cannot promise anything not provided in such a bill.

Mrs. Jackson Lee, while playing her game of “find any active camera”, is doing nothing more than getting in the way of city and state officials trying to do their jobs in such a crisis. She is, in essence, abusing her power as an incumbent to gain political favor through free media coverage in an election year. This is a luxury that none of her opponents have. The same goes for Mr. Cornyn.

Abuse of incumbency and taking advantage of a crisis situation is deplorable. These people should be ashamed of themselves. I am ashamed to admit that these people keep their jobs as my representatives in light of these events. Mayor White, a fellow Democrat with Mrs. Jackson Lee, has been more than happy to help his fellow Democrat find every spotlight available. He, too, has shown willingness to abuse his incumbency for the advancement of his fellow party members. I imagine he will eventually seek high offices once his term as mayor has expired and he is making sure he stays in good favor with his party.

Even if you do not vote for me, I would encourage you vote for anyone but the incumbents during this election year. Many of them have been in office too long and their only purpose to keep their jobs. They no longer have the welfare of the people in mind and have completely self-serving in their positions.
